Thai Rap! by Marge WardWhat a mighty big surprise To find a toad in your shoe. One is shock enough - But what if there're two?!
One looked scared and lonely, We thought. At any rate- With the presence of another He'd have a true "sole"mate!
Each Thailand day seemed much more fun When toads jumped out of a shoe. This lesson from our Thailand toads We now pass on to you!
T’was a two-toad morning in Thailand And we were sure the day would be good! There were tuna fish sandwiches for breakfast Plus both trucks came when they should.
We began our morning tasks with prayer In our circle formed at House One. We asked for safety and patience and skill And a day with lots of work done.
But more than work and sweat in the heat We wanted to learn about Na Toy And the Phang Nga people and places and food That we’d quickly come to enjoy.
Together at the World’s Best Brick Factory We sifted and shoveled and mixed, And we weighed and we carried and we pressed, and then - We carefully stacked the new bricks.
A few miles down the road at House Two Ready bricks were being laid. But we figured the supply would soon run out And we’d need to use bricks we’d made.
At noon we relaxed over a delicious big lunch Accompanied by lots of heat - One kind from the blazing sun Another from the spicey meat.
After lunch there was no time to nap As we had lots more work to do - Channels to lay and a hole to dig - Before the day would be through.
Both trucks we welcomed back about four And they whizzed us into town. We’d planned to hit the Internet Café But found all the connections were down.
So it was back in the trucks to our Sawasdee Camp And dinner of Thai food with rice We talked of work, of family and good friends And another day that had been nice.
We knew when we returned to Columbus And to Graeter’s could go for a cone, We’d think of our Sawasdee Lagoon Camp As our home away from home.
So all you who go on a Habitat trip Should remember what we learned in Thailand: On a two-toad morning - wherever You can figure your day will be grand! |
